Lakeland Aeroclub Glider Training Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to develop pilot skill at the minimum of 14 years of age.
The application window for this scholarship is the 1st-7th of each month from November to February.
After submission, applicants will be notified no lather than the 15th of each month.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Student must be an active LAC member
2. Student must be between 14-16 years of age
3. Student must maintain at least a 2.75 Unweighted cumulative GPA
Application Requirements
Applicants must complete the form when the application is open. This would require students to add each of the applicable documentation. Such as a student transcript, student pilot certificate (if applicable), SSA Rope Running course certification. ​
Scholarship Awards
A maximum of 2 scholarships will be awarded each month.
Performance Indicators
· Participated in a glider discovery flight 5 points
· Received glider flight training in the preceding six months 10 points
· Obtained FAA Student Pilot Certificate 5 points
· Obtained FAA Medical Certificate (Not required for glider flying) 5 points
· Obtained Soaring Society of America (SSA) Cadet Membership 5 points
· Completed SSA Rope Runners course 5 points
· Passed FAA Glider written exam (PPG) 10 points
· Hold a 3.1-3.5 unweighted cumulative GPA 5 points
· Hold a 3.6-4.0 unweighted cumulative GPA 10 points
· Prior applicant for SSA Junior Scholarship 5 points
